This past weekend I competed in Arkansas Strongest Man! This was my second Strongman Competition and was the one year mark for me being in the gym consistently training. Thankful for David Shirley and Cody Russell who have done so much to help me prepare for this event! I went in to this weekend not quite at 100% as I have had some nagging SI problems over the past couple months that have really gotten me down. I hadn't really dead lifted or squatted heavy in over month, and it showed when I failed to take the farmers handles no more than maybe 5 feet or so.
With all that being said I placed at the back of the pack, but I am happy with a few of my event performances. Some people might view this past weekend as a loss, and if you want to get technical well yes I lost. But more importantly learned a ton that I wouldn't have learned if I hadn't jumped into the deep end to compete with the big boys. I could have competed in the novice and took advantage of much lighter weights and less experience lifters. But I feel like no TRULY STRONG person ever took the easy route. Those who have achieved TRUE STRENGTH never backed down from a challenge, and they never would have took the easy way out.
I am learning more and more each day that strength goes beyond the muscle. I can't wait to see where the Invictus Powerlifting Family goes over the next year. Now that ASM is behind us we can take a step back and come up with a plan for the next comp! #BeUnconquered
