How did you start competing in your sport and how long have you been competing?

I joined the Proving Ground gym on May 8, 2012. I never thought I would be strong enough to compete because at the time I could barely bench the bar. After traveling to and observing more competitions, and with the encouragement of my husband, I decided to finally challenge myself and see what I could do on the platform

What is your favorite type of training right now?  I do a lot of supersets in my training. Not that I love it doing them at the time but my body responses well to that sort of training.

What is your supplement routine? I don’t do supplements besides maybe a preworkout every now and then. Just vitamins and eating healthy.

What is your favorite exercise in gym or in competition?  I enjoy training shoulders quite a bit. My favorite lift in competition is bench because I don’t freak out on it as much as squat. Deadlift is probably the most exciting though.

What's in your gym bag?  DMSO cream, wraps, Icy Hot and preworkout.

What do you like to do outside of the gym? All kinds of things. I enjoy hiking and camping, but lately I have been spending most of my spare time with my kids and grandkids.

What is your biggest gym pet peeve? My pet peeve would be people not cleaning up or putting weights up after themselves.

Do you have any heroes/mentors in the sport? I guess I would say I really look up to Dana Lynn Baileyas far as a female role model, but also my husband. He can push himself beyond pain and limits. To be as disciplined as he is can be both irritating and impressive.

What are your goals for the future?  I just want to make myself better and stronger. My goal and passion for this sport is to show women that we are strong. To have muscles isn’t a thing to hide but to be proud of. I have two granddaughters who I want to be proud of their Nemo!
